Anchoring sustainability in everyday scientific life in laboratories? Together it is possible!

Everyone knows it, but hardly anyone acts consistently: sustainability is also a pressing issue in laboratories. Despite their central contribution to science, everyday laboratory work often lacks concrete structures for implementing resource-saving behaviour easily and effectively. Yet one thing is clear: laboratory work is teamwork – and sustainable change can only be achieved collectively, through exchange, practical support and mutual motivation.

Our goal is to make sustainable behaviour in everyday laboratory work visible, suitable for everyday use and cooperative. With the GreenLabShare Freiburg digital platform, we want to network the existing individual initiatives at the University of Freiburg, establish an internal exchange platform, provide concrete tips, collect recycling and disposal options, and create spaces for exchange. In this way, we not only promote resource conservation, but also strengthen the sense of community among laboratory staff.
